Shadows, shadows everywhere...

Wouldn't you love to be able to look out on your deck every morning and see this?

That is, if you had a deck! I don't. A group of us get together about once a month to do critiques of our work. At a previous meeting at Mercia Lee's home, I had noticed the lovely morning shadows on her deck, but was without camera, so could do nothing about it. The next time we met at her home, though, I came prepared! As you have witnessed here.

A Sculpture in Old Town, Albuquerque

I think we have more than 330 sunny days a year here in New Mexico. It is rare that we have overcast days-particularly for consecutive days. So, I almost feel guilty having so much light every day of the year. Shadows are everywhere to be had. And, sculptures always lend themselves to the most interesting of shadows.

Every week, a group of us from around the world post our shadow shots over at Hey Harriet. Entertain your muse and be amused by stopping by to see what others have posted! You can view all of my 2009 Shadow Shot Sunday images on my Flickr account. Click here and then select the "Shadow Shot" set.

The trellis leaves a wonderful geometric pattern! Almost like a kaleidoscope, the design is artistic and lovely.

This sculpture is astounding, and quite intriguing in shadow. I see here a big cat, sitting up as it assesses the landscape for her next meal. So cool!

Wonderful shadows, Paula. You're fortunate to have so much sunshine. We live in the sunniest spot in Canada, so shadows are easy to find here, too.
Beautiful photos. Thank you.

I have a deck and I wish I had that awesome view! Although it may make me a little dizzy first thing in the morning pre-coffee!

Love the sculpture shadow! Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

If I had to wake up to all those shadows on the deck every morning, I would be tempted to pull my blanket back over my head or take two aspirins thinking I was hung over although I seldom drink. Just too busy for my eyes to adjust too. The second one I really like.

That is a beautiful deck. Great place for some morning coffee I'd bet. The sculture makes such intriguing patterns. Both great shadow shots!
Hope all is good with you.

Peace.

Yes, please send just a little bit of that sunshine to Iowa, it's a VERY GLOOMY day today outside and cold.

Have a wonderfully sunny week ahead!

How we love that first shot - it does look like an optical illusion - we couldn't figure it out when we first saw it. Sunshine THAT many days a year...well, I guess when it gets dreary here, we know that we'll be heading over to your blog :)

Both shots are fabs!

I wonder how you captured your shots. Every angle is just perfect.

Love your arts...

Happy SSS...

Those deck shadows are really trippy...so many patterns...and the blue at the top is interesting. I'm wondering where the color is coming from.
